Appreciating Our Patients
On October 1st, there were no tricks, only treats for our patients at the Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery. Our fun-filled night was a champagne toast to all those who attended and shared their experiences. The night's treats included a delicious table of nibbles and chocolate-covered strawberries.
Attendees mingled with the doctors, staff, and Lite Lift patients.
Prizes that were handed to the lucky winners of our raffle inluded an Obagi Peel, IS Clinical products, Latisse, and many more. But don't worry, everyone left with a gift bag.

Our Autumn Appreciation Event- Oct. 1, 2009
Doctors Nichter and Horowitz hosted a very successful "Autumn Appreciation Event" last Thursday. We had a great turn-out with more than 100 former patients and friends in attendance.
We decided that this would be a great opportunity to spoil our guests and to show our former patients how much we appreciate them. We had a number of vendors showing their wares, gift bags, and held a raffle for jewelry, skincare products, Latisse for eyelash growth, and an Obagi blue peel for healthier, younger-looking skin.
One of our patients, Suzanne, has written about the Autumn Appreciation Event experience on her blog, TwentyFourAtHeart.com. Click here to read her fantastic recap of events.

ASBPS Press Release: Breakthrough Organization Will Benefit Post-Bariatric Patients

Breakthrough Organization Will Benefit Post-Bariatric Patients: The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons
A group of distinguished plastic surgeons has launched a powerful new resource for individuals who have experienced dramatic weight loss due to bariatric surgery or intensive dieting. Dr. Jed Horowitz and Dr. Larry Nichter of Huntington Beach and Newport Beach are members of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons (ASBPS). The organization's primary focus is providing referrals to top-flight plastic surgeons who specialize in treating specific post-bariatric problems.
What distinguishes the ASBPS is that all of its member surgeons are specialists in body contouring. These procedures are a viable remedy for the larger areas of sagging skin that often result from massive weight loss. More that just a cosmetic step, body contouring provides a solution for a number of problems that can occur following bariatric surgery. "Removing excess skin is not only necessary to achieve optimal body shape, but it's also helpful in improving overall health and quality-of-life," said Peter Rubin MD, chair, American Society of Plastic Surgeons Post Bariatric Task Force. Sagging skin can inhibit movement, lead to infections, and have a sizable psychological impact.
A Secure and Safe Solution
The ASBPS offers patients the security of having easy access to the most advanced post-bariatric care possible. To qualify for membership in the unique organization, surgeons must be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In addition, most members belong to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of the Canadian Society for Plastic Surgeons.
"The ASBPS is a complete information resource," Dr Horowitz, a member of ASBPS, points out. "Our hope is to provide individuals with the best chance of receiving high level care, as well as reinforce the fact that body and facial contouring is a very effective solution."
Perfect Timing
According to Dr. Horowitz, the timing couldn't be better for the ASBPS.
Statistics clearly demonstrate a steep rise in the worldwide obesity levels,
as well as the number of individuals opting for body and facial contouring following massive weight loss. "Because of advances in medical techniques and safety," says Dr. Nichter, "the number of individuals choosing body contouring treatments has shot up in the last twenty years." In 2006 alone, nearly 66,000 contouring procedures were performed, up 18% since 2004. Following this trend, the number of treatments will steadily increase over the next decade. Clearly, the ASBPS will provide an invaluable resource to the growing numbers choosing these procedures.

Pam Says:
"Still feeling a little tight and a warm sensation from the tightness. I'm drinking lots of water. Still have the staples in from the temple lift, but I don't even feel them. (He even gave me blond staples to match my hair :) !) My ears are still feeling a little tender to the touch. All of the bruising and swelling is completely gone! I feel like I have more energy and have completely resumed normal activities."
"It hasn't been two weeks, so I still sleep on an incline. Ill start wearing some light makeup over the weekend and I'm back to church on Sunday!"
"Everyone is telling me how great I look and my son in law tells me I resemble pictures from when I was thirty- and especially my jaw line looks chiseled. I feel like I LOOK as if I have more energy and look much lighter in the face."
"If anyone is feeling tired when they look in the mirror, this is totoally a must! It rejuvenates and refreshes you!"

Day 8: Back to Work!
Monday, May 11, 2009
Day 7: One week after surgery!
Only one week after surgery Pam is looking and feeling great! She is returning to work tomorrow after 7 days.
Pam says:
"I visited my daughter today and my son in law said that my skin looks like I am in my thirties... and my kids would definitely tell me the truth :) !!
My ears feel a little "hot" but I am ready to return to work tomorrow! The hardest thing was to sit up straight and sleep with my head still, and now that has already started to settle."

Day 4: Feeling Great!

Pam saw Dr. Horowitz today and is doing great! She says she feels like "Pammy"again. She feels that due to her results, her look is softer and won't be needing as much make-up in the future. Dr. Horowitz removed the tape from her lower eyelids, and she is able to wear make-up now, as she only needs to tape at night.
She is "Tickled Pink" with her results!!!

Day 2: 48 Hours After Surgery
Dr. Horowitz says:"Pam has very little bruising, a small amount of swelling in her face and a normal amount of swelling around her eyes."
"She is feeling a slight tightness of her face and she has some aching around her ears; the soreness will be treated with Advil (Ibuprofen)."
"The entire staff is amazed by how great she looks only 48 hours after the procedure and how quickly she is healing!"

Day One: 24 hours after the Lite Lift
+20090504153047637.jpg)
Pam says:
"Feeling much better today. Yesterday I felt "foggy" from all the meds. I had a headache this morning about 10:30 but then realized it was probably lack of caffeine so I got up and had a cup of tea and half banana. The headache went away pretty quickly. I knew that my face would feel tight but didn't realize that I would have to mash up the banana because I couldn't open my mouth fully."
"As far as my face, it feel tighter. Feel pressure in my head but not pain. Still have all the bandages on until tomorrow afternoon's appointment. Where I feel it the most, is around the ears. Feels like the ears are sore but not really painful. Can feel something in the hairline (that is the temple lift)."
"Thanks to Sandy (our nurse) for holding my hand during surgery. And thanks to Dr. Horowitz for his wonderful work!!"
Meds: Took 1 Norco at 3:30 AM and then 1 at 10:30 AM. No stomach ache from Norco.
Notes from Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery:
Pam had not only the Lite Lift in our office but also a temple lift, lower blepharoplasty (lower eyes) and liposuction to the neck. So she will have a few more days of swelling and bruising around her eyes than if she has a simple Lite Lift. The surgery was about 3 hours in the office, performed Monday May 4th.

Upcoming Lite-lift™ Procedure!
+20090429102731363.jpg)
This coming Monday- May 4th, 2009- our esthetician, Pam, will be having her Lite-lift™ facial rejuvenation!
Pam wanted a quick procedure to rejuvenate her face so she can get back to work quickly and look great! The Lite-lift™ is a great alternative to a full face lift for those looking for a minimal recovery time, and a less expensive procedure.
Pam's procedure will be in the office under local anesthetic and she should be back to work later in the week!
